I have been practicing astrology since 2000 and doing Medical Astrology since 2003 in conjunction with health practitioners of various modalities on a wide range of serious illnesses. I teach 3 levels of Medical Astrology to students of Bastyr University located in the Seattle area and am on faculty with the Department of Science, Spirituality and Medicine there. I blend a number of different astrological methodologies alongside various additional divination systems, including the original intricate and sophisticated Hellenistic Astrology of 2200 years ago, modern Psychological Astrology, Soul Evolutionary Astrology, Horary Astrology, the Tarot and Card systems, the I Ching and Numerology. Archetypes, as defined by Socrates and Aristotle are the interface between the body, the psyche, the Soul and the ill health dynamic.
Illness, especially of a chronic nature, is found in one's birth chart. Astrology looks at illness from a higher level point of view. One way that astrology speaks about illness is that it is about learning what our Higher Selves [or Soul as the ancient Greeks and Egyptians would have termed it] is doing on a psychological level, a spiritual level and a physical level. Ill health from this view is not some random biological event but in fact, as I have always found to date, part of our path as individuals. Astrology sees illness as a way in which some learning that has come to the final level of the physical body to get our attention by it's reflection in our flesh and blood. A Medical Astrology reading informs a client of precisely how this learning is contributory to the illness and what the positive direction of this learning needs to be, which, when practiced by the client, then supports them on their path of greater well-being.
