Traditional Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture
Practitioner: Annie Allender Robbins
Acupuncture is one of the oldest healing practices in the world. As part of Traditional Chinese medicine, it is based on the idea that there is a universal life force energy, called Qi or Chi, and that all parts of the universe are interconnected. Healing, in this tradition, occurs by bringing balance to the body using various methods, including through the use of herbs and by placing very thin needles about the thickness of one hair, at various points on the body. Because the needles are so thin, the sense of discomfort is usually very minimal – similar to one hair being tugged. Typically, appointments last about one hour and treatment may occur over a period of several weeks or more.
